Sharyn Alfonsi is an award-winning correspondent for 60 Minutes with a career spanning nearly three decades. Known for her tenacity, she has reported from war zones in Iraq, Gaza, and Afghanistan, and covered era-defining events like Hurricane Katrina. Since her 2015 debut on 60 Minutes, Alfonsi has earned multiple Emmy Awards, the Alfred I. duPont–Columbia University Award, and the Sigma Delta Chi Award. Her investigative work often drives real-world change; her report on FEMA fraud after Hurricane Sandy sparked a congressional investigation, while her 2024 coverage of Boeing whistleblowers and 2025 reporting on the U.S. southern border earned top industry honors.

Her diverse portfolio ranges from a "dream interview" with Paul McCartney to a high-stakes sit- down with a Taliban minister. A graduate of the University of Mississippi, Alfonsi is an avid runner. She lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, two great kids, and "two bad dogs."
